Right, let me start off by saying...I almost didn't have it in me to hit the banks yesterday. I had a couple of good sessions last week and weekend, but the early part of this week I've felt a bit out of it and not all together on par. However I recently got my last Christmas package, my new Dave Lane Hardcore Barrow from Total Fishing Gear and really wanted to give it a go. Also wanted to get a bit of a review on it for our site and a few others as well.
I am completely satisfied with it so far. It is quite well put together, handles a good chunk of gear and folds down to fit into most cars. So I set out to try it out as well as bank a few nice fish, or at least try to. Was a good day on the banks and nice to hang out with smckenna1212 (Sean) as well, next time is yours bud...
The Mistral baits were working well for me and I managed 5 fish, most in the average 8ish pound range with a second 15 pound, this time a mirror, coming to me out of this hole in less then a week. I know the 2 resident 20's are not far behind..I can feel it!
Anyway I kept the video short, aside from my review of the Dave Lane Hardcore Barrow because I just don't feel all that great and while I had a good day I am tired and really hope I'm not getting sick..blegh.
Mistral Baits have been the goto bait for me in this section. I roll my own with their Day Glo Yellow Pop-up mix...pineapple and scopex have been banging!
Location Details:
A great winter spot for carp. Changes through the season with new debris coming in, old snags leaving. Water levels vary and flow of the river can range from insane to mild. gravel bottom with spots of silt, small dying weed beds and plenty of snags to hold fish.
The ranking score is used to determine how "popular" a trip or location is. It is calculated based off of a weighted average of the number of reviews and the user ratings. For example, a trip with 2 reviews and an average rating of 5 will have a lower "ranking score" than one with 10 reviews and an average rating of 4. This is because even though the first trip has a better average rating, it has not been reviewed as much as the second trip, so it is not as "popular". In the future we may modify the ranking score to take in additional factors, such as the number of views, comments, and photos.
