Long Pond in Lakeville is wild - big whitecaps - wind at least force 5.
The ice is piled up along the south shore.
The New Bedford Reservoir along Lake Street is all open.

The N.H record Tautog is 9 pounds, caught in 2012 in Hampton Harbor. They have been catching a few up there since 2009 or before.

Nothing wrong with being paranoid Very Happy
A discharged battery will bubble a little while being charged.

I doubt if the cold has that big of an effect, but you could always move the battery to a warm ...

Your charger might be overheating and turning itself off, cooling a little, and then going back on. Is the charger big enough??

I just got a kayak and will use it on the ponds and lakes of South East MA. I have been fishing salt water for the past several years, but plan on trying for some SM and LM Bass for a change.

Many sailboats were built for fishing. About 4000 big schooners were built near Gloucester to fish for cod using dories out on the Grand Banks over 100 years ago.
