Tony and I hit up 3 cape ponds today. We were on the water at 6. Overcast warm and breezy. Perfect topwater weather. Tony started off with a buzzbait and I used a buzzjet. We caught 1-2 keepers and then Tony picked up the BIG lunker Punker. On like his 2nd cast it gets CRUSHED by an over jealous 3.5lb bass. You would have thought the fish was 6lbs the way it hit. massive toilet bowl flush!!! Back to the Buzz bait and Buzz jet. We must have caught 10-12 fish ontop before switching to soft plastics and getting another 10 or so. Off the water and onto Pond #2 by 10.
Pond# 2 Sucked. 1 lap around 2 fish a 2lb and a 3lb on soft plastics. This pond was situated N-S and the wind was blowing pretty good by now. Off there by 11:30 and onto #3.
Pond# 3 was more of a bowl with less weeds. Shoreline cover was the ticket here with Jigs and creatures. We got another 5-6 fish from 3 to almost 5 lbs. If there was a fish there they were aggresive.
Total for the day was around 30 fish with our best 5 topping 20lbs |
