Just picked up a 13 foot Jon Boat with trailer and 30lb thrust trolling motor. Want to put a fish/depth finder on it. Max budget $150 maybe $200. What should I look for , what about mounting ect. This is my first boat . Want to make sure I get something that will work for this and maybe boat number 2

Thanks
Anthony

I saw your battery post before this one. You're probably going to want a bigger trolling motor than 30.

shawn's right about the motor. Someone I know has a 30lb thrust on a 12' jon boat and it goes pretty slow with the two of us in it. I would recommend maybe 55 lb. thrust, which is only $40 more than the 45 lb if you're talking about the minn Kota c2. That 55lb thrust motor is on sale at dick's right now for only $200, 30 bucks off! Concerning fishfinders, you might wanna try the lowrance elite 3x ($100). It has a color display and is LED backlit. The screen is small though, and if you're looking for a larger screen you could try the Humminbird Helix 5, which goes for about 200. Do you want down imaging or just regular sonar?

Dicks in dedham has the lowrance mark 5x for $107.93
