Don't overlook Jamaica Pond right in Jamaica Plain.
They stocked it with trout last week. I went there for the first time on Tuesday and caught my first rainbow trout since I was little kid. There was trout everywhere I looked to. I had on my $5 polarized sunglasses and saw a lot of fish, mostly trout, but a few largemouth scattered around too. I also saw a school of about 300 bass roaming around, little guys following around a decent size largey. When I asked around people said there was some good size largemouth bass in there too. Oh there are also some big broodstock salmon in there too, although I was told catching one of those is like hitting the lottery, haha |

Great call on Jamaica Pond. I don't have rugby tomorrow so might head that way around noon.
Hey, where is the closest spot around west rox/roslindale for live bait? I'm googling and seeing Cambridge as the closest. Wasn't there a place in dedham by McGolf awhile back? |

| If you can't find one down there, Arlington Bait has some good shiners, there's also Fishing Finatics in Everett...a little out of the way, but if worse comes to worse, they'll have what you need. |

Went out for about an hour on the Dedham/Needham line (Great Plain Ave/Needham Street) and got nothing. Tangled up in the trees and ended up screwing my reel over.
Tried Jamaica Pond afterwards for 90 minutes and came up empty again.
Couple of guys strolled by at JP and said it might've been too cold. Might've been. Oh well, was great to get back into the swing of things.
Trying again tomorrow! |

I think that the weather yesterday really slowed things down today. I went to Horn Pond today for about 2 hours and didn't get a single bite. It was first time there, I think I'll be going back soon to try again. TOmorrow should be better. |

Horn pond has some huge bass in it. I caught a few 4+ pounders last year in my kayak.
Edit: Matter of fact, my profile pic is from Horn. That fish was about 3 lbs, from what I remember. I can't wait for the weather to warm up a little more so the bass fishing starts picking up. |

Long gone. That was Tropicland or something - they sold aquarium fish and some tackle and bait. I got bait there way back - probably the 1980s.
I got the skunk at Jamaica Pond yesterday. I grew up near there and fished it as a kid. The state record Koi was taken from there a few years ago. |

Just thought I'd add this: I've spent a lot of time hiking through the Blue Hills, and I've never run into any guys showing junk to women. Many years ago, I ran into more than one couple doin' the dirty along the path, but no tool-wavers. The reservation does have a history of being a public dude-dude hookup place. When you pull up to park, don't tap your brakes, if you follow my meaning. But in all the time I've been up there - hundreds of hours - I've never seen any dude-fests going on in public. Take-home message - it's really a safe place. [/i] |
