I guess this is a good place to post about this species. We've only been able to hit the Q twice this season for the lakers up shallow. My partner, Walt, has been layed up with arthritis, so this is the first sping we've fished so little together!

Water temps are still in the mid 40's to low 50's. The lakers will be "running" the shorelines, stocking up on smelt and yellow perch.

Ideal time to be jigging with med-light spinning equipment. I've taken a half dozen so far this season. Here are a couple of pics:







This will give you some idea of this under-utilized fishery. We use blades and heavy jigs on med-light spinning gear. Pulling these fish from 30' - 60' of water with 8# test line is......"challenging"! Very Happy
