We got out on the lake by 730 Sunday morning, pleasantly warmer than I thought it would be. Water temps were ranging from 52-60 degrees, a huge range given the small size of the lake. Not surprisingly all the fish we caught were in water that was warmer than 57. We threw everything but the kitchen sink... I was eager to try out alot of new gear from the offseason, but came up empty. I cant say I was all that frustrated, I admit most of what I was throwing was new to me. I tied on a orange pumpkin yama creature and 2 minutes later hooked into this 3.4lb larry.

Left Sunday night for a few nights of camping in Bear Brook State Park, didnt get in and set up til after dark so we didnt get on the water til Monday, but it was gorgeous out and all the rain from the previous few days really brought out the colors around us. Our campsite was about 20 feet from the boat launch, on Beaver Pond. No motors allowed but we rented a canoe for the day for $20. My fiance has never been fishing with me so I was unsure of how this was gunna go, especially since we had our dog with us. A few casts out and I landed a few sub 1 lb'ers but it set the tone for the day. In the corner of the lake there was a marshy area with alot of lillies and grass, we were gettin blown all over the lake so I parked us in the weeds and as we sat fishing the bass were jumping all around us. It was pretty incredible, Ive never seen anything like it. Some of them were coming a foot out of the water and just crashing back down, I wish I had a camcorder. I landed about 8 in all, with my fiance grabbin the catch of the day, her first bass was a nice 3lb5oz. I took the opportunity to break out some stuff I dont normally use, and had success with all of them. The majority of my bass were caught on a pumpkin orange gary creature with red and black flakes, but the strike king crankbait and white spinnerbait also landed me few.

Early this morning we hit up Haggets, 3 boats total, fished all morning with nooo luck, couple sub 1 lb'ers, nothing noteworthy. We all shored up on an island for lunch and sum beers, then hit the water again. 3rd cast out in the afternoon and I nab my biggest fish of the summer, scale said 3lbs 15ozs. a HOG compared to anything on the day til that point. That seemed to break the day open, cuz within the hour they were hittin everything and we were seeing 2+lb fish every time we hooked one. This was the trip I was looking for allll summer, sumthing worth taking a picture of for christ sake.

last weekend, while attending some concerts in the upstate NY area, we camped out in the Finger Lakes Region. I wanted to hit more spots than time would allow, but oh well. He spent a few days on Cayuga Lake with a rented canoe. We didnt haul in a bass worth mentioning all weekend, but there was still plenty of action. Yellow Perch and White Perch were abundant, the biggest one being an 11" Yellow Perch. We fished crankbaits and creatures, power worms and spinner baits. When these amounted to nothing, we threw some nightcrawlers on and the perch-fest began... not what we were lookin for... but it was hot as hades and we were happy for some action.

Me and two others went out with some creatures, spinners, and live bait (crawlers and small/medium shiners). got on the lake at 9am, stayed out until 2pm, caught some panfish, half dozen decent perch, and a half dozen large mouth, largest fish was 1lb 15oz. Had most luck with bigger bass in deeper water of the lake, using the creatures and shiners.
