Yeah, so August seems to be a perfectly reasonable time to start thinking about ice fishing.......

So as some of you may recall, my wife broke my saltwater rod about 2/3 of the way down. I'm going to use the stump of it for a jigging rod in ice. I'd like to take the final 18" or so and turn it into a tip-up. Has anyone done this before?

I dunno, there's something very relaxing about a thermos of coffee with a lil whiskey in it, a folding chair, and a jig.

I'll have to agree. How were you planning to rig the end of the rod for a tip up? You could make it into 2 jig poles, different weights, maybe
