1. Either a LMB or SMB is my choice. I don't care if I catch a 80LB striper.
2. I like bass fishing because I can get an addiction fix quickly. They are close by. I like lure fishing. I like in full control when I am fishing. Saltwater is once awhile deal. On a charter boat, I never had full satisfaction because I was lead to the fishing honey hole by the captain. It is like spoon feed. It is fun but it is not 100% pure fishing.

1. LMB its much more rare to catch a state record for that species. then for a striper.
the guy that caught the world record striper of 81.8lbs also caught a 75lbser last week. so big stripers are out there you just gota know where to find them

fresh is alot easier then salt.

1. I would have to go striper on that one just for the cred. I'm on the coast where nobody cares if you pull a 9 pound larry from a puddle but everybody craps themselves over a 50 lb striper. Rainbow trout is a close second though.
2. I prefer freshwater fishing because it's easier to get into on a tighter budget, i.e. no boat necessary. Also I prefer being able to break down different bodies of water like reservoirs, natural ponds, rivers, etc, whereas salt is just one huge body of water with a bunch of different spots.

2. Cost. It cost me about $3k to be fully rigged to go bass fishing. Thats boat, rods, reel baits ect. Once the initial cost was met, it cost me about $20 in gas to go fishing for bass.
To be properly fully rigged for salt water fishing it would cost $20K +. Once that initial cost was met you are talking a (couple hundred) $200 in gas per trip between truck and boat.

1. In MASS deff a largemouth. Runner up obviously being smallies.
2. IMO saltwater bores the hell outta me. Sure the fish fighting is awesome, but fishing too me has evolved into MUCH more than the actually fight. Also there is truly some beautiful gems here in MASS. Ether you love the fishing and the BOW those fish lurk or the beautiful scenery and wildlife around.... You cant' lose!!!
3. Honestly i don't have much input except that if bass fishing disappeared it would probably be a much different angling world....Who knows what everyones favorite species would be or if any of us would still be on the water lol

1) Largemouth Bass is easily # 1 for me. If I happen to catch a state record for a different species than WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I have nothing against salt water fishing...I wish I could get some lines in the ocean more often but it's much more of a process and expense as many have said.

1. Northern Pike or Tiger Musky, I would weight it, take a picture and return it to the water. I don't care about the pin.
2. I would prefer Smallmouth over LM because they fight harder. Wow! With that said I enjoy catching all types of fish because each species has its own angling challenge.
Salt water fishing is mostly bait and wait type fishing unless you are trolling for big game fish. It's expensive and is a lot of work.
3. It depends...in the eastern part of the United States Bass fishing is very popular. In the Midwest Walleye fishing is very popular. In the West and Northwest, Excluding California, Trout, Salmon and Steelhead fishing more popular then bass fishing. In the South, cat fishing is almost as popular as bass fishing.

Smallie. Rare to even find the small ones around here never mind a trophy.2 smallie wins again these fish never stop fighting even when u have them gilled such a high energy fish. Salt is fun but just not as intimate as fresh. Just love the whole package of the lake and wilderness. True lmb most pop in the states.
