Merrimac Does Have Walleyes

Hit the "Mac" today with a buddy of mine. We launched at the Lawrence ramp at 630 am. At 730 we decided to fish a deep water hole with plenty of current. 2 minutes in , Dan hooked with a nice walleye 3lb 11 oz. ! I knew they were in the river but had never caught one. Word to the wise!!! Be careful these bad boys have some nasty teeth. This fish hit Mepps Cyclopes # 2 in about 25 ft of water. As we Continued up stream we caught several dink small mouths. The largest being in the 1 lb range. Dan caught a keeper Larry that weighed in at 1lb 14 oz. ( also on Cyclopes ). The smallies were caught on crank baits, spoons, spinners and jerk baits. All in all we had a good day on the river. Between the 2 of us we had a little better than 20 fish.
