Comment: These guys are fun to catch but not as easy to find as largemouth. They also don't usually grow as big as the hogs.

Comment: The Res will open on time this year, so the Smallies should be early do to the lack of ice. Stock up on your yellow perch now, if u plan on cathing Big Smallies. If not you'll be wathching everyone else...

Comment: smallmouth bass love to go airborne. a great fighter. there's a few ponds around my area which hold these fish. probably only caught a half dozen in my life. definitely a fun fish to catch. aside from the color and marking difference from a largemouth, identifying these fish can be done by checking the jaw hinge which will only be about halfway in line with it's eye. a largemouth's jaw hinge will be well passed the eye.

Comment: Smallmouth bass are more commonly caught in cold water lakes. They are much easier to catch in rivers. They are much easier to cath when the water is below 60 degrees, and the prefere rocky banks and points. their favorite food is crawdads. i like to fish at night and use a brown and orange jig with zoom or uncle josh pork trailers.
