Previously I've only fished Spy Pond from the walking path by Rte. 2. This was my second try from the rocks in front of the park bench at the end of Linwood St. The first time I used shiners with no success. This time I tried a Yamamoto worm on an offset hook, letting it sink a bit before the slow retrieve. I fished for 15-20 minutes with no strikes, then this one hit just before sunset.
After the photo next to my 12.5-inch shoe the bass was measured with a tape, exactly 18 inches; probably around 4 lbs. It was hooked only in the front lower jaw, and had lots of energy when released.
It was good to find out that fish can be caught at the Mass Ave. side of the pond.
