To piggy back on my thread yesterday about what is a big bass to you, lets see pics of everyones PB LM and SM if you got them.
My pb LM is 7 1/2. It came from lake Cobbesseeconntee in Maine 6 to 8 years ago. and my pb smallie is 5.25 and is from the Quabbin last year.

I dream about smallies like that every night

Posted Wed Jul 24, 2013 8:58 am

6 lb. 4 oz. largemouth (terrible pic) and 4 lb. smallie. still searching for a 7 and a 5.

Posted Wed Jul 24, 2013 9:03 am

Largie PB: 6 pounds 2 ounces
Smallie PB: 1 pound 8 ounces (not good at all but not targeted enough)

How is the Quabbin with a kayak? Anyone ever been?

Cool

By the way Stratos, you are the man at catching big bass and congrats about that smallie PB!

Thanks. No kayaks allowed on the Quabbin. Boats must be inspected, power washed and bolted to the trailer before being allowed to fish it. The rangers at the gate remove the wire bolt and then reattach it when you are leaving.

I was blessed with a 8.2 LB on a 4inch Culprit blood worm when I was 22/23. Smallies I have only been out twice specifically for them. Have picked up 1 or 2 in ponds with both. The SB pb was 2.5.

Oh my thats a stratos smallie special! Beast!

Well lol i guess I'll share my LMB PB experience even though it will probably get shut down...

I remember it like it was yesterday...

Was fishing with my brother and his ex-girlfrind. Went to honey hole on a hot august day and the fishing was mediocre. I was on a canoe while my brother and ex were on another. Around 6pmISH they started catching some quality. The ex hit a LM around 5lb and my brother caught a solid 4lb... I couldn't catch nothing though... With me still being very new to the bass angling world and not knowing the BOW very well i just started getting desperate to catch a big fish! My tackle box probably consisted of less than 10 lures at the only fishing rod i had was a $30 walmart special matzo 6'6. I ask my brother to see if i could use a lure and i looked threw his box only to find a old ,torn-up, rusted,out-of-shape Storm chug bug. I tied it on thinking i was just being a desperate for somthing to tug my line... Little did i know what going to happen next.....

I keep chucking the bug with no takers, tried all different speeds and retrieves and was just getting aggriavatated and woulden't come off the water untill i landed a fish even if it was the dink of the night. Viciously i keep chucking chucking the chug bug as the sun is just about down... So here i am with no fish next to what i know now as one of the best spots of the BOW. Mad and defeated i keep chucking, but i start fishing the chug bug (to me seemed absolutely ridiculously) Like a manic just outta spite...So i start RIPPING the bug into the water and you know what i taking about if you ever were screwing around with a popper and made it dive and make that loud obnoxious KAAAAPPPPPPLLLLLOOOOOOOSH. Thats what i was doing to the extreme.. It's about 10 mins until pitch black and still nothing... At this point i couldn't see my lure or much of anything around me. All i could hear is the nonsense of the lure going KAAAAAAAAAPLOOOOOOOOOSHHHHH!!!!.......KAAAAAAAAPOOOOOLLLLLOOSHHHHH!!........KAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPLOOOOOOOOOOOOSHHHH(LOL you get the point) Over and over untill i heard the magic lifechanging splash! BAM fish on, but this fish didn't feel like a bass nore a pickerel. More like a moving snag. Then out of nowhere my drag starts screaming and my rod bends over. I knew right away i had a big one! I had one major problem though ALL I HAD WAS 12LB TEST. Now that would be okay except when your fishing a place thats LOADED with weeds that big ol bass could easily wrap around snap or get off. With no too many beast under my belt i was in a full blow panic yet i stayed calm enough to control myself. As im angling the bass with every bit of life in me. As much as i tried the bass still buried itself into the gunk. Once the bass stopped moving i figured it was all over. Just another beast lost to the salad with a lure all tangled up. I move over to the weeds he rammed herself into and couldn't see or hear anything. My rods still doubled over and i have no idea if im just snagged. Ohhhh and to this day until im a old sack of s*** i will ALWAYS remember what comes next.

I start ripping threw the grass with my hands only to see this a tiny glipse of a bass under the crap! I reach down move somemore and get a hand on his lower jaw and after getting a good grip(Still not knowing what the heck i caught) I start pulling and instantly my arm starts shaking and as the shock smacks me in the face. I had a trophy bass. In a crazy state of mind i frantically started screaming for my brother to come back as loud as humanly possible. While hes taking his sweet time coming over to where i am. Im sitting there in a lather of sweat with my arm about to fall off. Just screaming for my brother to come. Surly but slowly my brother comes. Now my brother doesn't really care about fishing and has seen plenty of big bass..Not this one he knew too i caught a once-in-a-lifetime fish and even he wanted to be apart of it. Let me remind you it's pitch black by now and the only thing i can take pics with is a cheezy cheap samsung cell phone with a crappy photo. As crappy as the phone was i took quick photos and revived the lunker after being outta water for probably a soild min or more. Nevertheless she took off on her own....

Im not going to state any weight since i din't even own a scale at the time...

I leave it to this though... The 8lb i caught this spring couldn't compare on any level with the Gut, length, or bucketmouth

Heres the Storm Chug Bug in the same condition as it was when i caught my PB. Never tied it on after that, but always keep it in my tackle box for good luck.

My PB smallie came out of a smallie-only pond when they were on beds. My buddy said it was a 7lb smallie LOL it was probably 4lb. Regardless was my mighty-fine smallie for me.
