2 Day Outing On Boone
On Sunday we got a group of us out there on Boone- JB, Napa and Hansel joined me for a day on the ice near my house. The ice was between 3-5 inches on the area we could fish and with four of us out there we peppered the area with around 15 traps. The day was cold and windy but since we had constant action running at flags the weather was easier to cope with. In total we caught around 20 fish with a variety of species- largemouths, pickerel, perch and a couple crappie. Awesome to spend some time with the guys and catch some fish.
The next morning JB joined me again for a full day on the ice. I got bait and met Jon out there and noticed that we had gained some ice which allowed us to go further up the narrows. Jon drilled through about 20 new holes by the time I got there which made setting up easy. It was another active day out there with around 15 fish landed and the biggest was a gator with a fat belly that Jon pulled through on one of the deep traps. We called it a day around 4:00 pm and the two day event definately made up for lost time on the hardwater earlier this winter.
Great job guys. It's good to see someone still getting out on the ice. Our ice up North just isnt safe. I'm jealous.
