Breakfast With Larry!!!

So I woke up this morning around 6:00am with no intention to angle but when I looked out the window and saw what I consider to be ideal fishing conditions I was immediately set on launching at Boone. I whispered to my fiance (thanks Denny) that I was heading out for a couple hours and that I would wake her when I returned......not more than a second later and I caught an earful "I told you that you could fish on f'ing Tuesday this week" as both of us have the week off. Not sure how it matters as she was still sound asleep when I returned at 8:30am but none the less I headed staight for the boat.

I arrived at the cove around 6:30am where I recently caught a good one. I had a certain feeling of confidence/arrogance as I approached the cove. About 5 feet of water with the occassional pads, stumps and weeds on the bottom had me anxious to get my Kopper Bull Frog in the water. About 15 minutes into the session and I get an eruption. You know the subtle commotion a Monster Bass makes when it decides to lay into the frog......jk it's the opposite...a moment of fury and mayhem hit when Lawrence came to play. I set the fish a second after the strike and then the battle between Larry and I began. It was a really strong fish that was taking drag in between a couple awesome jumps. The fight pursued for about a minute and when I got it close to the boat it didn't dissapoint and it jumped one more time despite me doing all I could to keep the line down. Finally it was in the boat and I was exhausted! I took a couple photo's and then saw a guy with his two kids at a near by dock. I decided to bring the fish over so I could get a couple better photo's and weigh the fish. It was commical because the guy was holding his 2 year daughter in one arm and snapped a few photo's with the other. I remember thinking to myself if he accidentally dropped her in at least I have my frog rod nearby and would surely be able to rescue her lol. I weighed the bass before releasing her....she came in at 21 1/2 inches long and weighed 5lbs 10 oz's- HOG!!! I talked with him for a minute and his son, probably around 6 years old was very intrigued. I opened up the tackle box and handed him a snag proof frog to have....gave a 30 second lesson and set off to continue the trip. I caught 4 more bass over the next hour...one close to 3 pounds and the others were all between 1 1/2 to 2lbs. The morning was just what I was hoping for and on my way home I prepared myself for a few comments from the sweetie....she didn't dissappoint either hahahaha.....I actually learned a few new words!
