There is giant carp in there. Never would have thought.

Although it is illegal to fish there, the reservoir holds many big smallmouth and bass. I went there a few days ago and had my one of my best freshwater fishing days ever.

This is not Fresh Pond. Although technically owned by Cambridge due to Waltham owing money to Cambridge a long long time ago so the Res was given to Cambridge. It is the big lake on the right going down 95 South near exit 27 and 28. Only person allowed to fish on it was good old Teddy Williams

I've been kicked out of the res a bunch of times (at least back in the day). Some nice fish in there for sure!

It used to be legal to fish Cambridge Res. until about the early '80's. Used to be some good bass along the rocky shorelines ; even stocked with trout a few seasons...the killer was No Parking, and were strict about it. Still, caught some descent fish on top water baits,

Definitely illegal to fish at Fresh Pond. I'm not sure what you're referring to on rt. 128...

That's not Fresh Pond - Cambridge Reservoir is out along Rt 128, not in Cambridge. And I don't think fishing is allowed there.

- Got one on the mop jig just across the current. Got another on the buzzbait a little further out. Got a couple of shorts.
- I went with a basic powerbait rig. I Tied a barrel swivel on to the end of my 8 pound mono and added about 2.5-3 feet of 6 pound fluorocarbon leader. Just above the swivel was a small 1/8 ounce steel egg sinker. A baited powerbait hook completed the set up.
- Just used some more powerbait. I'm thinking next time I may try some mealworms or nightcrawlers. Maybe a few small senkos as well.

- I use frogs, senko, spinnerbaits. jigs. Just about anything will work here if u know what your doing. And have the tackle to get ém out the cabbage cuz its thick and so are they.
- Rapala SkitterPop 7 in brown frog
- Though I have caught a few bass on various lures here so far, topwaters seem to be the most productive by far. It makes sense when you think about. Go down to Fairhaven on a summer night and just try and count the splashes on the surface. I lost count somewhere around 20.
