Ice Fishing Boone With An All-Star Cast!

Although my post is tardy, the memories are still fresh in mind. I had the pleasure of getting out Sunday the 6th with Napa, the Burrows Bro's (Slobs R Us), Alessi, Gentile and the Legendary Landlord (Chuck). We met up bright and early at my house and headed to our first spot by 7:45am. I set 2 traps while I was waiting for the crew to arrive and on the walk to a big cove I caught my 1st fish of the year...a little crappie. We set up shop on the outer edge of the cove, including the Burrow's new tent and although we really didn't need it that day, it will certainly come in handy on cold, windy days in the future! We peppered the area with around 20 traps, loaded with L & XL shiners. It didn't take long to get action as we landed around 10 fish in the first 2 hours. A nice variety of largemouth bass and a few pickerel made their way through the ice. The action slowed down around 11:00am and that's when we decided to make a half mile shift to the narrows. By 11:45am we were at it again and after Chuck's second fish to the new spot he informed me that he had already caught his limit....quite arrogant yet true! We continued to have a blast for the next 3 hours...trading off turns to sprint after flags. There were no giants landed but it was a great day with a great group of guys! We landed around 25 fish in total and some of us enjoyed some nice whiskey on the ice to celebrate through out the day. I'm looking forward to getting out there again soon and thanks for everyone making an effort to get out there!


I was able to get out for another 6 hour solo outing on the 9th and enjoyed another 15-20 fish day, nothing over 2 pounds but i'll always take an active day on the lake. The Big Bass will be making an appearance on the Wall of Fame on the next outing...I'm sure of it!!!!
