LARRY Strikes!!!
I've come to the realization that June 3rd is the best day of the year for me to angle. Last year, exactly one year ago I landed 2 lunker bass in a 2 hour night fishing excursion at Lake Maspenock. Today I went out on Lake Boon with Jen's Dad Rick for a couple hours of fishing. The conditions were great overall but we had some wind to contend with so we decided to try a secluded cove that had water 5 feet deep with lily pads emerged in the middle. We each caught a bass about 10 minutes into the trip on senkos and felt good to break the ice. Shortly after we moved further into the cove I switched to a Spro Frog looking to elevate the action. Not more than 5 casts later I was retreiving the frog back to the boat, hopping it along until it was about 30 feet from the boat. At this point it just got beyond the lily pads and as it entered the open water a specatular strike occured- my rod locked into a bent position immediately and not long after the drag started to buzz.......every time I gained 10 feet the fish took back 5, it was awesome! I told Rick that I had a monster on and as I looked over he had already grabbed the net. About 20 seconds later the fish surfaced for the first time, I kept the pressure on until it got close to the boat and Rick scooped it up in the net. Larry measured just over 22 inches long and weighed in at 5lbs 15 oz's. This marks the first open water SLOB of my season and was the best 1 year anniversary gift I could have asked for since Maspy's memorable evening. What a great day on the water and looking forward to getting back out soon!
Great report thanks for sharing. Love the details, great fish and on top to boot! Congrats!
That should be 5 STARS!
Sorry!
