Salt water setup

I am new to the salt water game. I have plenty of expirience fishing freshwater but don't really fish salt water at all but would like to start. I am in search of a fat striper. Any suggestions for bait/ line test? I need somthing that stripers will bite and line that won't brake. I have a salt water rod already. Also does plastics work or would i be better suited with some live bait or fish chunks.
