Double Haul

Don't you feel so awesome when you finally get it down?!
Now, I know I should've gotten it much, much quicker, but the line on my 5wt is TERRIBLE, and on such a fast rod I'm surprised I learned on the thing at all. Wondering if I couldn't get the technique down before I got the 9wt with better line because of the much lighter weight of the rod or the (lack of) coating. I now got it down gracefully on both but I really have to punch it forward on the 5wt. Must truly be the line. No coating in comparison. I probably just answered my own question.

I can't double haul to save my life. I was practicing this morning but it's a sad thing to watch

Ah, I was the same way. Thought I'd never get it. But I've recently learned a different rod can change all that. For me it took a heavier rod and slicker line, and then out of nowhere it just came naturally.
