Advice on rods?

im looking to buy just a rod for now. any suggestions? ive had an ugly stix and a candy apple, liked both but would like to try something new. preferably not a break pole. anything helps, thanks!

I love St Croix rods. Even their "triumph" line is pretty good. A little less expensive are the BPS extreme and next down the line is the BPS Bionic Blade, I have some of these and I really like them. You didn,t mention a price range or if you are looking for Spinning, Casting or your target species though. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the upgrade over the Ugly Stick. I prefer 1 piece rods over ones with a ferrule.

it depends on what technique you gonna be using it for... for cranking, the best rod for the money IMO is the powell inferno, that thing rarely lets fish become unbuttoned.
