Shiners for Lake Trout?

I've been thinking about taking my first trip to the Chu soon. I want to catch a lake trout and I was wondering if they will take shiners. If not, what other baits will they take?

Yes big shiners n perch. Live or dead. Kast masters or spoons I like gold or silver n blue.
