Caught my first smallmouth on the Charles by chance. Just hoping to get more info on where to find them (on the Charles or nearby places) and what lures/bait are best to use? I've only caught 2 my whole life and they're fun to catch. I've been lucky and have been able to get out a lot this year so I want to try for other species. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Try around the museum of science, or around the bridges.

Under the first bridge of the first lagoon in the Charles River Esplanade, there is a slight current. I caught a bunch of smallies there using a Cabin Creek Spider jig with their spider trailer.

I've had success in the Watertown Square area using 5" Senkos and Rapala jerk baits.
