A friend wants to hit it Sunday morning for some kayak fishing - from what I can see, it's supposed to be OK in that stretch for warm water species.

Just wondering if anyone's been there recently and has any specific advice. If the Assabet is like the Sudbury, the water level is probably down 2-3 feet because of the drought.

It was a very slow bite day.

We were on the water about 8 a.m. in our kayaks.

A guy fishing from shore at the bridge said he got one small bass on a topwater, but I couldn't get any hits on one.

We worked the weed beds and the main channel up river for about a mile for 4 hours, got some hits on soft plastics, my buddy lost one on a senko, but in the ended the only thing landed was a hapless blue gill that took his spinner bait.

Really beautiful scenery though, no development at all as it's in the national wildlife refuge. I may do a return visit in the fall and see if I can do better, and at least enjoy the foliage. Smile
