Lures or Bait?!?!

I find that Bait is quite more sucsessful than lures but it depends on the situation. I like to use Night crawlers and Live minnows for bait and I always end up with some nice fish eveytime. With lures you need to hope something is there and you might or might not catch fish. So of you ask me, "what would you do", I would say go out and free line some bait and I garentee a fish.

Attack of the White Perch

These are my second favorite game fish to target due to there aggressive fighting and wonderful looks. These are school fish so where there is one there is 30 more.

These fish will go after Trout spinners, and live bait such as Night crawlers and live Minnows. They are just like Pickerel and will hit a Spinner, worm ect. with extreme force and no second thoughts. A schoolie sized fish is 3" - 8" (8" being there size limit) a nice sized one is 8" - 12", and anythig above that is a great catch! I hope this was helpful and inspiring to someone who has never fished for white perch before.

Chains in the spring

Chain Pickerel are my favorite game fish to go after. The are firce fighters and can get really big. The spring is the best time for me to hook these fish for it is their breeding season, resulting in massive weighing females. Late March through the middle of May is when these giant fish are breeding so get your rods set and go out and fish the shorelines with my personal favorite lure for these fish, a trout spinner. Its just a simple cast and retreve, no playing dead or dying like with Bass fishing, these fish are firce Preditors that I've seen attack anything that goes by it (including bass and even other pickerel). I hope this helps people get their own nice spring Pickerel or inspires someone to go out and fish for these magnificent game fish...
