Kayak Fishing Three Reasons to Start

Hi, this is my first time posting on this site so I will do a little introduction. My name is Collin Fiske, I'm 17 and I spend most of my time in the seat of my kayak. I'm looking into majoring in marine biology along with Aqua culture and fisheries. I am a member of a kayak bass fishing circuit called Boston Bass Stranglers (check us out). I am also a member of Filthy Anglers and co-founder of the RFC.

So if you skipped the intro to this, I don't blame you. You did come here to read about kayak fishing. Why should every angler try kayak fishing? Versatility, affordability and transportation.

Kayaks are versatile, meaning the have the ability to go anywhere. Yes, there are fast bass boats with large engines that allow you to move easily but can't always get in the tight spots like a kayak can. When fishing from a kayak, it is easy to stop on the side of the road and put your kayak in and fish the backwaters where boats can't reach. Fish are always ready to eat here. Fish don't feel the same pressures while you fish from a kayak that they would if you had a loud engine behind you. Kayaks are very stealthy allowing you to sneak up on that trophy bass.

Another reason why kayak fishing was so attractive to me is the affordability of owning one. Like anything, there is the high end super expensive kayaks upwards to 3-4 thousand dollars but to catch fish that isn't necessary. I have a buddy who recently bought a kayak for less than $200. There is even kayaks out there for less than that. Basically what I'm saying is you don't need to spend 10's of thousands of dollars on that fancy new bass boat to have a good time and catch fish.

The last reason why kayak fishing is worth a shot is how easy it is to transport them. You can put them on anything. For example I own a truck so it is very easy for me to strap them down in the bed. You DO NOT need a truck for this style of fishing. There is no trailers to be towed like bass boats. The overall light weight of a kayak allows anglers to use whatever vehicle they own. I have seen kayaks on Maximas,BMWs,Subaru,Mini Vans you name it.

So for less than a couple hundred bucks and using my Honda Civic I can get out on the water and catch big fish without a truck and fancy boat, you ask? Give kayak fishing a try you won't regret it!

Thank you for reading this, I really appreciate it! If you have any ideas on what you would want me to write about I would love to hear them!

Thanks again Tight lines,

Collin Fiske
