6-20 BOSTON FLOUNDER

With the weather prediction looking grim we decided to slow it down a little flounder fishing.  I figured we could get a few hours before the rain set in, and besides Allison was on the hunt for a fish to turn in for the MASS STRIPED BASS ASSOC. "Special Derby".

Fog was very bad as we tracked 200 yards off shore in our usual spots.  About 45 minutes later it lifted enough for us to make a run for the "hot spot".  We arrived to see a fleet of 15 boats working hard.  No wind so we drifted and managed to pick up a few here and there.

Moved around testing the deeper water and did alright.  It wasn't until we were down to our last worm when she said she had a good one.  Boated it and called it a day.  The fish weighed in at 3.2 pounds.  Not exactly a trophy winner but respectable entry.

6-17 FISHING STELLWAGEN

We blasted out to the bank to go haddock fishing before the dogfish take over.  Well so much for that idea, it was about a 2 -1 ratio.  At one point I was thinking about shark kabobs, how bad could they be?  I hear the British call them rock salmon and serve them as fish and chips.

Bait busting all around us, whales feeding and the tuna guys in hot pursuit. (didn’t see any hook ups)  Get this one.  After we set up anchor and dropped the lines a big ass tuna cruises right by us within 150 ft.   Hearts were pounding and wishing we had a pogy in the water or the spinning rod to throw something.

On the way back in we spotted large dorsal just outside of Graves.  We slowed and made our way over to a basking shark that looked as big as the boat.  Shadowed him for a half minute until we got too close and he disappeared.

What a great day!
