Fishing Tips

Good Evening to all Anglers,

I write with enthusiasm regarding our quests for Larry the Lunker!  This blog is meant to share some ideas on how we can all catch a noteworthy fish in the month of August (i know you all know but just felt the need to share).

1- When Hot, go Deep! Use diver squids, jigs, or heavy swimbait/divers.

2- Heavy Cover- lily's, weeds, logs and rocks are tough fishing but use weedless worms or frogs and find the place that works.  Early am in fog and glassy water is ideal.

3- Late Night- Larry lurks for small fish jumping at bugs from 9:00 pm- 5:00 am because thats when the food is available and the boat activity is to a minimal.  Jitterbugs will get you the quantity...an occasional slob, but heavy swim bait lures will get you a monster!

4. Darker lures will usually generate more action.  The Darkness of the bait will cast more of a shadow in the water, grabbing the attention of fish in the weeds and on the bottom.  I would use black, brown and dark blue colors.  I also use a black jitterbug at night.

5. When in doubt, throw on a Gary Yamamoto because any asshole can catch a fish with one of those.  Cast towards docks and in rocky/weedy areas.  Work it slow with a little twitch as you turn the reel.  It's fun fishing because you can watch your line run and then set that SOB!

6. Have a blast!   That's why we all angle and fish!  Napa and I either catch 6 lb bass or drink 12 oz brews, actually we do both simultaneously.
