well I went fishing after work today at a pond my dad used to take me to when I was a child.  had a few bites, and had a few bass follow my bait, but no fish landed.  spoke to a couple of old timers that said there's a lot of smallmouth bass in the pond, even a 4 pounder, and I asked what they were using, live bait or lures, and they said Mumpers(live bait).  Not my idea of fun or honing skills, I'm definitely strictly a "lure guy".  I'm just hoping that live bait isn't the only thing fish will go for in that pond. but nonetheless, not too shabby for a small pond thats pretty much in the middle of the city of New Bedford,MA.   I'm definitely going to have to get a canoe or a kayak out on that pond,as there's not a lot of places to fish from shore.
