Lake Champlain in October

Last week I had the opportunity to fish the Alburgh area of Lake Champlain. It was my first time fishing the lake and I encourage anyone that has not fished it yet to add it to your bucket list. Definitely different fishing big water like that, we moved around and covered a lot of different area's never fishing the same spot twice.

We fished around Knight Island, Dameaus Island, Woods Island, Butler Island, around the shoals of Gull Island, Horse Shoe Shoals, Squire Bay, Holiday Point the Gut and a few other spots.  We worked the rocky area's as well as the feeds.  We got alot of fishing in for a 3 day trip starting at sunrise and coming off the water just before sunset.

Fishing was slow on first couple days caught some nice LMB's and SMB's but took alot of cast.  Cast to catch ratio was very low.  The fishing picked up nicely on the last day, once we figured out a pattern.  We were boating LMB's two at a time for at least a couple hours using Fat Albert Curly Tail Grubs in Watermelon w/red flake.

During the trip we caught a good mix of SMB's, LMB's some Northern Pike, Chain Pickerel, Perch and even a Brown Bullhead. Caught fish in most places using Jigs, Wacky Senko's, Tubes, Sluggos and Curly Tail Grubs. Had a great time and would recommend it as a good destination and fishing trip.
