Comment: Don't waste your time. No place to put in without getting locals on my ass, and more bugs than fish. Cop told me it's private.

Comment: are the tourney comments a joke? no way can a tournament be held here. there's "parking" for 1-2 cars max.

User: shawneramone
Comment: It's kind of funny that in the description of this pond under "public fishing" it says yes. Can anyone give me a heads up on a public place to park? This looks like an untapped resource.

Comment: I agree that the fisherfolk on this site are indeed courteous and respectful of both residents and the environment. Sadly, it is not true of all who fish. I've seen plenty of empty beer cases left behind from all night fishing parties along the Charles. That said, I think the Boot Pond residents "stepped in it" with their confrontational approach. I will leave the issue of whether this is a public or private pond to the attorneys. There is some exclusion regarding water supplies in the quoted statute.

Comment: how about this? instead of blaming the fishermen for the beer and other crap, you look at all the teenagers out in kayaks etc. most people on here respect the water and the fish. the people that "pleasure boat" do not.

Comment: Hey Boot Residents, you picked the wrong site to post this crap on.

Most of the anglers on this site are very courteous and respectful of the homeowners of the ponds they fish. These posts are misdirected.

All you've done is attract attention to your little pond so expect some increased activity. (albeit very courteous activity :)

Comment: It looks like Boot pond is a great pond as defined by the state. Here is a link:

http://www.mass.gov/dep/water/resources/grtpond.htm

If its on this list it is NOT private!

Comment: Private...says who? Never fished here but I'm just curious how a pond went from public to private. Nothing worse then some yuppie homeowners making a fuss and getting access shut down. Thankfully if it is a great pond there is nothing a homeowner can do!

Comment: You're right. My bad. Thanks for the correction.

If you idiots decide to trespass and park on PRIVATE PROPERTY, you decide to leave your vehicles in an unprotected area.

I'm sure you'd cry like babies if you came back and there was pond scum, beer cans and dead fish all over your vehicles.

So why don't you think twice about breaking the law?

User: bootpondresident
Comment: Agreed, Tony. I have to correct one little mistake you made, though.
"Well, I guess if you decide to park on public property, you decide ..."

I think you actually meant to say "if you decide to park on PRIVATE property..."

Completely agree, otherwise.

Comment: Someone moved the logs?

Listen, jerks, there are several dozen public ponds in Plymouth, MA. A lot of them are within walking distance of our little pond. Go eff up one of those ponds, instead.

Our pond USED to be stocked for fishing, back when it was still a public fishing site. It's NO LONGER PUBLIC. Do you understand that? Does it need to be spelled out for you, so you won't make the mistake of pulling a huge tree out of your way? Does the fact that you HAD to pull a huge tree out of your way raise any alarms in your heads? Well, I guess if you decide to park on public property, you decide to leave your vehicles in an unprotected area.

Comment: Recently, large trees were cut down and placed across a private beach (by the owner) that many of these fisherman seem to think is a public access point. It's not. And still, some gap-toothed idiot in a white pick-up truck (license plate# will be disclosed to the fish & game warden and local authorities only) and his little friend strapped one of the logs, pulling it out of the way. Luckily, my wife and I happened upon this. They both took off without fixing it.

It's amazing to me how irresponsible these people are, and yet they shout "Injustice" at not being able to fish one small pond.

We like our pond without the litter and dead fish floating around everywhere, thank you.

I've already set up surveillance of that beach, so now anyone who disturbs it will be recorded for posterity and, if need be, reported.

Comment: This is a private pond, owned by the land owners surrounding it. We generally don't mind the occasional fishing boat, but ask that you abide by the law and clean your boats completely before putting them in our pond. We already have an invasive plant that is taking over because of a lazy visiting fisherman. We also ask that you DO NOT leave your empty beer cans in our pond. Littering is also against the law, and if we have to set up surveillance crews to catch who is doing it, report them to the police, and file charges against them, we will.
