This reservoir can (and usually does !) provide some excellent season-long bass fishing - both largemouth and smallmouth bass are present here and can sometimes be caught together in the same area. Chain pickerel (some real BRUTES too), calico bass, yellow perch, and large sunfish, are among the many other species present in "The SR", as I call it. Fishing is shoreline only & some areas are restricted (near the Fayville Dam, for one) but these areas are usually plainly marked as off-limits with signs.
I've been fishing this reservoir since the late 1970's, and I've taken LMB up to 6.5 lbs and SM B up to 3.25 lbs, although most fish I've caught are much smaller. On the other, I've lost bigger bass there as well; I won't publicly speculate how much they might have weighed, but these are NOT "fish stories", believe me. |
