Couple Hours On The Ice
I got done all I needed to do at work earlier than expected so I set out on Maspy around 2:30pm for a couple hours of ice fishing. I set up four traps in an area I wanted to try but couldn't in past trips due to the thickness of the ice. I was in search for my first bass of the 2011 season and the first tip up of the day resulted in just that. A beauty of a largemouth bass- I didn't have my scale on me but estimated it to be around 3 and a half pounds. I took a couple photos and as I was releasing it another flag went up. By the time I got to it all I had was weeds and my bait was robbed. About a half hour later the same hole as fish number 1 one delivered a nice pickeral. That was it for the action and I packed up my gear around 4:30 before the darkness came. The ice is getting solid again and I'm hoping to get a full day in this weekend.
