try the wachussetts res. Plenty of shorline fishing. Smallmouth, lake trout, landlock salmon, and stocked trout. You can find info on masswildlife.com.

I agree with mikeyc, Wachusett Reservoir is supposed to be great. I'm from Fitchburg and just go down Rt. 12. I don't have a boat either so I'm always looking for good places to fish. Try:

The Wachusett Reservoir is absolutely the best place to fish in all of Massachusetts, especially when fishing from shore since there are no boats allowed. I absolutely agree with Mikey on this one. The Wachusett holds 6 state records in Massachusetts. The best spots on the reservoir would have to be on the West Boylston section of the reservoir in my opinion.

You may also want to try Quinsigamond Lake in Worcester as in 2008 the biggest Carp was caught from there weighing 28 pounds 4 ounces and the biggest Tiger Muskie was caught from there as well weighing in at 20 pounds 12 ounces! It seems to be a very good lake to try seeing where it's very close to you! Check out the link below to see the 2008 Trophy winners in Mass.:
