So I didn't grow up in New England and none of my friends fish, so I really don't know where to go a lot of times.

What would y'all say is the closest river with trout in it to Medford? Or does anyone know any good streams with or without fish that a guy could practice his casting on?

Actually.... The Charles River is stocked with Trout. If you plan on trying to hit the Charles for Trout though, I'd go as far upstream the river as possible to the areas of the river that are the cleanest! Wink

They stock the Ipswich river in Middleton and Reading I believe. I think they stock the Shawsheen river also, haven't fished there but caught a few out of the Ipswich last year. Not too many rivers in this part of the state...

Terrific link! Thanks volume4130!
I never knew that the pool beneath the Pawtucket dam in Lowell was such a hot spot for monsters! I am there very often (in fact I'm there right now) so I am really looking forward to throwing a few spinners in there soon, maybe even today.
