Connecticut river striper fishing

Hello all,
I live on the mass connecticut border and am looking to get into some river striped bass fishing. Ive only caught stripers from surf and know very little about when the stripers run or what to use for a setup/lures when fishing the river for them. If anyone has any tips or information(that they are willing to share of course!) on this i would appreciate it.

I read that the window follows the shad run from late April to early June. last year I talked to few guys, they fish by the bridges with big rattle traps, swimbaits, and top water
