I bought a 8wt. st croix fly rod a couple years ago and planned to use it for schoolie stripers but after going fishing 4 or 5 times and never having so much as a bite, i thought i might use it for large mouth. my questions are 1 is this to much rod for the average lg mouth and 2 is is the floating line i have on it going to be ok.
thank you

i'm a self taught fly fisher of only a few years. but i've landed some decent bass with my 8ft. i tell you what, on a 8ft rod with 5lb bass pullin at it, it feels like your pulling in a shark.
what size line are you using? is it 5?
i usually use a 5 wf, floating line and it's just fine |
