WOW!
I went to Stevens Pond in North Andover today with some minnows. I didn't catch anything so I ended up going to the Merrimack river right near Sal's Pizza. I saw some guy pull up a 3 ft long Northern Pike with a gut! I know it wasn't a Chain Pickerel because of the pattern. You could actually see the fish in the shallow water! I never knew that the Merrimack River had northern pike! |

Nice! I just moved to Dracut and the Mac is just down the road. What part of the river was he fishing? Faster water? The bank? A cove? The reason I ask is I have been wondering how people access the river. It is such big water.

Yup the one in Lawrence, I heard that spot is AWESOME for pulling out pike. It's where the Shawsheen River empties into the Merrimack. I think the pike sit there and wait for trout and other fish to exit the Shawsheen into the Mac and devour!
I tried that spot twice so far with the intention of catching Pike. I ended up getting my first two smallmouths ever there, but no pike. When I returned for a second time I didn't get any bites and was wondering if there even was Pike there. I am glad I read this thread, now I know the person who told me about the Pike there was not messing around. |

| Does anyone know where there is boat acess on the Merimac? Im sure there must be some ramps. Im on the Northshore so anything in that area would be awsome. |
