Hey boys figured I'd post this in case anyone is interested in some friendly competition. I'll be out there with a grill and a 30-rack of crappy beer.


6th Annual Lake Nipmuc Ice Fishing Derby and
Benefit for The Lake Nipmuc Association

Saturday February 8, 2014

Where: Lake Nipmuc in Mendon MA (01756)

Registration: Pre- Register or at the derby from 5AM-9AM

Time: 6:00AM- 2:00PM

Holes may be drilled NO EARLIER than 6:00AM
Pre-Registration Entry Fee: $20.00 Adult $15.00 Child (under 15)
Add $5.00 if registering day of derby

Please have preregistration in by January 31st
Pre-Registrants must check in by 9:00AM the day of the derby


CASH PRIZES WILL BE BASED ON PERCENTAGE AND WILL INCLUDE 50% OF THE ENTRY FEE MONEY. THE OTHER 50% WILL GO TO THE LAKE NIPMUC ASSOCIATION

ALL fish must be brought to the check station alive and will not be entered if dead
Winning Bass will be chosen by weight
Winning Pickerel will be chosen by length
Winning Perch will be chosen by weight
Derby will run from 6:00AM- 2:00PM
All winning fish must be entered before 2:00PM NO EXCEPTIONS
All registrants are required to present a valid 2014 Mass. Fishing License
There is no special division for children
All state fishing laws apply
Check Point will be located at the Town Beach House
Parking will be located on Taft Ave. at the Beach House Area
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST SIGN A WAIVER OF LIABILITY. PRE- REGISTRANTS CAN FIND IT ONLINE

*The Mendon Lions Club will be located at the Town Beach house selling Coffee, Breakfast Sandwiches, Lunch, and Drinks

Ever catch anything decent from there? Fished it when I was a teen caught plenty of small ones but nothing big.

Never anything over 3lbs but theres monster perch in there and some small mouth too. I know people who have caught a few 5+lbers

yeah you're probably right, that's just what I've heard. I've never caught one myself

Its possible. I heard they r in north pond in milford and I don't think that is very deep. Thenagain fished it a lot when I was young and never got one out of there either.

Canceled last couple years because most of lake has been open water or thin ice except late winter last year. Largest bass I've seen come out of the lake was 8lbs. We had one 6lb taken through ice at the last derby. Plenty of fish to be caught though. This years derby looks like a definite on Feb 7th.

Older thread I know but there's def Smallies in there. Here's a pic of a small one I got recently near the island. Almost threw it back thinking it was a tiny LMB bass till I looked again. I also have been in my canoe when my buddy caught a 3+ pounder smallie from there
