Cranking with my right hand and maneuvering the bait with my left doesn't feel natural to me with the baitcaster. With the spinning reel I would crank with my left.

Is this a normal learning curve or should it almost feel natural to make this switch with the different style rod?

I do some stuff left handed and other things right handed so before I go using this thing I wanna know if I should exchange it for a lefty reel.

No it's normal, I'm going through the same thing.

Started off and wanted to reel with my left hand, coming from spinning setups it felt so freaking odd to switch after casting and reel with my right hand....just the entire thing felt wrong.

Repetition is the key to muscle memory however; after about 2 weeks now I'm dialed in and adjusted, feels natural now to reel on the right.

I almost switched to a left hand retrieve, but with a right hand retrieve I can set the hook with my dominant hand/arm much easier than the other side.
