You're making me hungry! Hope your new tactic works out.

Lol thanks Im hopeful but I'll have a few tip ups rigged with big dead shiners just to cover my bases

I used. A hot dog yesterday and got a pike. I broke it into small pieces, probably half inch long, and used a size 2 hook. The fish broadsided the hook, but since the hot dog was small, i still managed a good set. Just be careful trying to weight it, and don't use a bobber. The hook will rip through the hotdog from the extra motion when you cast. I also set the hook in the middle of the hot dog, so it's completely buried. I found that was the only way to get it to stay. I also let the hot dogs sit out for a few days ( they were old anyway) and they were very oily. Threw it in the water, let it sit, caught a fish in a minute of so. I've also caught bluegills with hot dog in the past.
Good luck
