The 13th and final scheduled event of the UBFL season got under way last Saturday under beautiful bluebird skies and warm temperatures at Bare Hill Reservoir.

All of the regulars were honored with throwing the first Pats this week. Most of the competitors this week have been with us since the inception of the UBFL and have witnessed the UBFL grow from it infancy of five boat fields to our largest fields this year of 18 boats. We have no idea where were going but where ever it is,......we're getting there fast.

Tough conditions greeted the field this week as the fish were not in a biting mood. Only one 5 fish limit was brought to scale. There was no shortage of fish though as the boats averaged 15-20 dinks for the day. Trying to find the larger fish and get them to bite was tough.

Not surprisingly, the veteran "Boys from Bedrock" team of Mike "Fred" Wells and Jeff "Barney" Portela bested the field by managing five "better than 12 inch" bites to bring in winning bag of 11 lbs 7 oz. and bring home "The Belt". The boys are one of the best finesse fishing duo in the league and used 1/164 oz jigs with 2 inch craws to fool 5 fish into biting. Seriously...I'm not to far off the mark as these guys throw the light gear and use very small presentations. It works though as the team is always around the top of the leader board. Many of us have learned a lot from these guys since their fishing style is unlike most of ours in the league...seeing is believing though.

Coming in second this week and continuing there Monday trips to the Bank was the "Bassbandits" team of Tony "Bassmaster" Rosarioooooooo and Donny "Big Fish" Capen. The boys managed only four fish while throwing everything in the box and narrowly missed the belt with a bag of 10lbs 4oz. The bag was anchored by the big bass of the tourney weighing in at 4lbs 6oz Tony fooled the fish into biting a Pats Perch barely finning on the surface.

All in all it was a great season for the UBFL. We averaged around 12 boats per tourney with a high boat count of 18 at White hall. Amazing numbers for a fledgling series. We had the pleasure of entertaining 27 different teams who joined us for one or many tourneys.....It was a pleasure meeting all the new competitors and again welcome all the new teams who compete with us on a bi weekly basis

Rounding out the season at the top of the board and winning the season long championship for the 3rd straight year was the Bed, Bass, and Beyond team of Justin "The Champ" Fish and MIke 'Ike and Mike" Magnani. The boys won 6 tourneys, set a new big bag record of ............ and brought home the big bass 7 times to carry them to the title. Great year guys!

Our year is not over....We are planning at least two more informal get togethers so keep the poles out!

Tight lines......Rob
