kayaking Burrage pond

Was wondering if any of you guys ever dropped a kayak in here? Seems like a long walk but maybe you know easier access thanks.

off elm street theres a few spots u can put in on some of the smaller stump ponds then pond hop your way in

Used to haul the kayak in there a lot. really only the one spot to park and haul in now. Some good fish in there though.

Really? That's a shame. There were some damn nice fish in both those ponds.

There's still a lot of fish in there. I duck hunt there now and then and have spooked some nice fish when wading don't pave it just yet. Anyone here of the 9.15 caught at west mopo recently?

I never knew it drained into Burrage. I know when I was a kid, down by Furnace Street, the river out of Mopo was AWESOME! It's not a river at that spot anymore (it's a small pond now), and I haven't caught a fish on that side in a long long time, but it had giants when I was younger.

a guy i know has caught multiple 4+lbers kayaking the small burrage ponds off elm st ken you might know the hawgslayer he's done a few of the tourneys but he pulled a 10.2 or something out of west mopo its in his profile pics a friend of mine pulled a 8.3 out of the east side in june

When that place first opened to the public in 03 (I think?) it was some of the best shore fishing I've ever experienced. My biggest was 6lb, numerous 5's and more in the 2-4lb range than I can count. A few hefty picks also. I never found it to be the same after that first season. The winter fish kill didn't help either!

I can't see that picture, but that's a beast. I've only fished Mopo a few times, but I've heard it can be a great fishery.

Anyway, I know a place near Burrage that has some giants. My biggest--which is a meager 6.5lbs--came from that pond. Lots of good water around that area. And one pond that looks AMAZING yet hasn't got a fish in it as far as I can tell. Dangerous, too. The shoreline ground is littered with mud wasp nests. Learned that the hard way...twice. Haha.

6.5 is not meager don't sell your self short haha. I honestly feel like fish over 6 pounds are like the lottery, if you are fishing right and throwing the right stuff and consistently getting out there eventually you will catch a 6+ whether it be 6.5 or 10.5 it really boils down to luck when you are monster hunting. My biggest is 7.4 out of sampsons after a whole year of pounding the place searching for a beast, and a guy from out of state kayaking there caught an 8.9 there the same week.in the same spot using a similar bait. Go figure

Oh, I know it's not a small fish. But I was stationed in Arkansas for four years, so I should have caught something bigger! Haha.
