Comment: I saw a couple of guys in there in a 17 ft Nitro fishing last year... they were navigating using their trolling motor - never left the East portion of the pond.... Bass Hound would be easy....

Comment: Can you get a bass hound with trolling motor in there?

Comment: My absolute favorite. Some days can be a non-stop catchathon and best pull for me has been a 7 from that water. If in a yak or canoe, please be careful and have pfd. We capsized in there from one of the many hidden stumps (and we go all the time). It's a monster in there between weeds and point stumps! But a true must go to spots! I am going to write about it for the hotspots section of the new EZ Angler site.

Comment: You can Wmc, though I'd not recommend it..it is called stump pond for a reason..after the initial open/deeper put in it is literally littered with stumps

Comment: Can I get a 16ft bass tracker in here.

Comment: I've fished it through the ice hooked one years ago that we couldn't fit through the hole some big ones in there but yes over fished. But like the above mentioned damn construction and having fence up left most of the big boats off the last few years hopefully the bass have caught their breath and venture out a little further from the vast cover and structure that they hide so well in!

Comment: Those electro shocking rumors are a bunch of b.s.

There is a guy on NEF who talked to the head guy at MA wildlife who confirmed that the biggest bass ever shocked up in MA was like 8lbs. Those rumors pop up every year

Comment: There was some talk last year about that electroshock thingie producing 2 fish over 10 pounds. That place will probably get hammered this year
Date: 02/07/13 06:38 AM

User: lunkerhunter2366
Comment: I do agree on that. If A-1 can produce 13lbs then she can deff produce other trophys. 30 min drive is nothing so i'd recommend going.

Comment: i agree the odds of hooking that fish (if it indeed does exist) are slim but if there is one then there is possibility of another one or two or more ;) just the fact that a place can produce and support such a fish is enough to get me there alot more than i would have . and ive never fished it but have drove by before its about a 30 minute drive from my house so ill be borrowing my mom in laws yak this summer to get into the real stumpy areas and try and find that behemoth!

Comment: If you live somewhat close i'd defiantly take the opportunity to fish A-1. Looks like a unique pond

User: lunkerhunter2366
Comment: I wouldn't be surprised, but think about it ONE 13lb bass. What are the odds your goin to hook into her unless your fishing A-1 365. I know a pond that caught and released 13lb bass. Sure as hell doesn't mean im hooking into her without luck or consistently fishing that pond with everything i got.

Comment: my boss is friends with a state worker that works with fish and game doing electro shock fish surveys, in short they low voltage shock an area of the pond and then categorize, count and weigh each fish that floats up then do the math to estimate the fish population in a given area. this year (2013) "supposedly" a 13lb largemouth was one of the fish surveyed at stump pond. is this story true? who knows but my boss does indeed have a buddy working with fish and game so it gives me hope

Comment: A1 was always over rated and over fished. in past years there were always 5 or 6 boats there when I went, even on weekdays. met a guy from n.h. once.

Comment: I hear you John. I didn't think of it at the time but having the ramp closed was a blessing in disguise.

The pond was still usable but many people were deterred by the fencing.

Now it's just so busy not to mention weedy. Makes me kind of sad.

Comment: It gets REALLY crowded during the summer, it's like Grand Central Station. If you like solitude this ain't the place.

Comment: Def Pike in there they have been taken through the ice. There is a hiking trail to left of boat ramp haven't been in a while don't know if you can get to it but last time I was there it is right after the pump house also if you travel down mill rd to end take a right and a little way up is tennis court if you walk through field(usually mowed)it is a hike but at end of field there are a few spots to fish one has open water others are weedy but worth throwin soft plastics on top had some nice bast bust up through weeds.Little far to lug a boat though.

Comment: can anyone verify pike being present here? and is there any shore fishing locations?

Comment: How can I get my boat in? It's only 10' and very light so I can carry it in if necessary. Badlarry's post says there's a spot to the left of the boat ramp, do you think I could put it in there? Is there any access on the other side?? I'm dying to get in this place. Fished there maybe 10 or so years ago and it was amazing! If anyone knows how to get in or when the boat ramp is supposed to reopen please let me know. Thanks!

Comment: Guys... I am interested in locating this pond. My boat is only 11' and easy to launch by hand. Never been here but looking forward to it as it sounds like a Lake I fished as a kid called Lake Murvall.
