A three pound bass on heavy casting stick is nice but the same bass on a 6 wt fly rod is an adventure!

try it on a 5-1/2 ft light spinning rod

I second that I have caught a 4 on a 5'6 light rod its awesome

I agree with the above. Caught both 4 pounders last year on light tackle, 4 lb test line, what a blast that was.

I'm not a big fan of slime darts but hooked into a 4.4 pounder on 4'6 ultra light with 2 lb test 10 minute fight then hooked into one just 4 lbs 5 minutes later it was awesome

back in my early years of fishing, thats all i used. ultra light 8lbs test.
smalll texas rigged plastics, slugos worms. small cranks, topwaters and small husky jerks was my box of tricks.

it was so much fun catching a 4lbser on ultra lights

now its braid heavier rods and bigger lures

5 lbs and up when fun fishing. 3 lb fish on a tourney day makes me happy as well.

6lbs deff! Honestly as sad and sick as it it to say i get little to no enjoyment catching anything below 3lb. I'd honestly rather catch multiple 4lbs+ then 100 dinks between 1-3lbs ALL DAY! It's much more accomplishing IMO catching a couple big girls than catching every dink in the pond. Any bass under 4lbs is quite easy to fool.... there much more aggressive and dumb.

Got a scale this year, because some times its hard to judge the weight of some fish. Best LMB this year I caught was on the Saco river. Being a river fish this 3.7lb fought like a 5lb bass. Pulled my boat right around. Anything over 3lb's is a great fish for me. To be honest . If I'm catching fish and have beer. I don't care about size..Smile

agreed. yea i do love catching big bass but id rather take dinks of 1-2lbsers all day and not get a big bass
then not catching fish at all

I catch dink 1-2 pounders most Saturday mornings(5-6 in a few hours) and have fun. I fish to catch fish, with hopes my first 5 lb bass will come in between the 1-2 pounders Smile

That's not a slime dart, that's a Massachusetts GATOR!

Without a scale, it's just a guess-timate.
