Honestly a big fish for me is anything that isn't a dink especially in Massachusetts and especially with the slow decline of our fisheries all over the place. If I catch a few 3 pound fish I am ecstatic for about a week afterwards and take plenty of pictures haha. I get out there just to catch them. Fishing is fishing. If I catch a Larry that's 4-5+ I am like the "Blastoise Kid" viral video. Haha. This is me; below, when I catch anything over 4-5 pounds lolol. Laughing

This is a great thread! After I finally owned a scale, I just started weighing everything, and now I have a pretty good idea of what size fish I'm catching just by looking at them. I'm pretty happy with a 3 pounder, and have never caught a bass over 6lbs, so I would say if I catch anything in that range, I'm having a good day. I put down 5lbs on the poll, because I think that's a good benchmark in this area. I know not everyone measures/weighs their fish, but even when then catch a 'big one' they say it was 'right around 5lbs'...just looking forward to the time I can get out and break a PB or put up a solid bag at any lake I fish.

Ive caught 5's 6's and 7's, All of them give me a rush, all of them are big fish.......But I'm looking for my 8's, or maybe a 9. ......They are around, just elusive

I agree my mothers neighbor said he caught a 7or 8lber at this old fishin hole I know. If u have never weighed a fish u will always think it is bigger than it is. I have a pretty good idea now after a yr with a friend with scale. Before though could be off by a pound and a half sometimes and that's a big dif. Haha need me a scale.I've caught a decent amount of fives but not to many 6s and only 1 over 7.would really love a 6 but them 5s been tough this yr n they still get the juices flowing!

BINGO! AGREE!! Any bass over 6lb is like catching a trophy especially if your fishing a BOW where a 6lb is a rarity. Hooking a 7+ is when the real rush kicks in.

I've said it before(not to derail the thread) MASS has big bass. Just not in the numbers that our southern states do!!! You just gotta find the BOWs that hold them!!
