New Kayak's

I have a bad leg and can't stay standing to long that's why I like the sit inside yak. I have been looking at those Ram transducer arms but also be getting info on the putty setup. I always like to hear every one thoughts on the sit in an on top yaks. Nice yak Stump hope to see others

My "sit in" 12' Old Town Dirigo weighs in at 50 lbs. Compared to "sit on" 12 foot Jacksons which weigh in at 70+ lbs or the Hobie which is 111 lbs. All these weights are for barebone boats, once you start to customize the weight will increase. Like I said it's all preference.

I hear you, and the older I get the heavier 50+ pounds gets. If I had the $ I would rent a Kayak boy to load and unload.

I have quite a few kayaks as well but I got the fs10 last year for portability reasons... I love it easy to lug around, comfortable and very stable...

I agree but I've also had issues due to a bad seat design in my opinion.

I have a Ram Big Horn w/quad cab , How do I transport a 12' kayak? Do I use my tie down straps front and back?

...and to mimic that arm on another kayak, (to be cheap), I constructed a similar contraption out of a crutch, some stainless steel nuts, bolts and washers. I had the crutch, and the hardware cost around $10. Sorry, it's my "away" kayak in another state and I have no pics of it.

As far as choice of kayaks, I have and am a fan of the Native Ultimate 12...

...which is a canoe/kayak hybrid. It has a ton of stability and gear storage space. Limitless customization as well.

For securing to a pickup, I throw min in my bed with the tailgate open and secure it with 2 heavy duty adjustable bungees to the gate latches and run a backup for safety up by the cab.

Hey Shawn, first time I heard of the Native canoe/kayaks was here last year. They look great! Would love to get one but $$ and cant find any used ones. Any thoughts on where I can find a dealer or used?

What is a good fish finder? For the kayak I don't need anything fancy just to find fish below me, just simple use.

Depends on your budget. Lowrance elite 3, 4 or 5. I'm getting the humminbird helix 5.

The old Elite 7's (without the Chirp feature) are on sale for $449 through Bass Pro Shops. That might seem like overkill for a kayak, but I think Yao uses one on his.

I have one at the console of my Tracker and just bought another for the bow. I was gonna buy the Elite 5, but at $399, upgrading to the 7 for $50 more was a pretty sweet deal. It's a great fishfinder.

It's a first time use so looking for something like $99. -$200. Are you all shooting thru your hauls with the transducer ? I would like to hear on how to connect it to a battery?
A sales man at BPS said that I should get a battery that they have for outdoor hunting cameras {it's all ready in a water prof case} But I don't know how I would connect it to the fish finder .

My OP: I like the FS12 it has lots of room and has the anchor included My Con: I got to buy 2 , one for me and one for my son {unless I get him the FS10} he is a growing 15yr old boy at 5'5" 155lbs an still growing.
